Cherrywine is the new group from Ishmael Butler of the platinum selling, Grammy award winning hip-hop group Digable Planets. Ishmael Butler was the lead MC, producer and main creative force for the group who experienced tremendous commercial success and critical acclaim throughout the 90's. He wrote and produced the top 20 single "Rebirth of Slick (Cool Like Dat)" whose fusion of jazz and rap is widely recognized as a seminal song in hip-hop history. Cherrywine represents a brave new form in hip-hop, melding 70's funk bass and guitar, 80's synth pop, the latest hip-hop- beats, and his unique lyrical delivery.
